Dive site, shipwreck site, Kalāheo, Kauaʻi. One of the three most popular dive sites on Kauaʻi. Horseshoe-shaped ledge off Makaokahaʻi Point at 60 feet, with two caverns that attract a wide variety of reef fish. The ruins of the SS Pele, a 165-ton interisland steamer, are here, with five large anchors. She was built in San Francisco in 1884 with a wood screw and a two-cylinder compound engine, placed in interisland plantation service in 1886. and sank here in 1895. The name General Store compares the wide variety of features at the site to that of the merchandise in a general store.
