Keawaʻula
/ Ke-awa-ʻula /Cave, land division, and beach park, now known as Yokohama Bay, Waiʻanae, Oʻahu. It was believed that spirits of the newly dead would come to a place here called Kahoʻihoʻina-Wākea (Wākea's turning-back place); if the personal god (ʻaumakua) thought the person was not ready to die, he would turn the spirit back to re-enter the body. The goddess Hiʻiaka opened a cave here to get water. Literally, the red harbor (said to be named for numerous cuttlefish [mūheʻe] that color the water).

Keawaʻula
- 1. Bay, beach, Kaʻena Point State Park, Oʻahu. Wide calcareous sand beach in Keawaʻula Bay, the last sand beach on the Waiʻanae Coast before Kaʻena Point. Also known as of Yokohama Bay.
- 2. Cable station, Keawaʻula, Oʻahu. Keawaʻula Beach is the landing site for a number of fiber-optic submarine cables.
Literally, the red harbor. The bay was named for the great schools of squid that once came to this area. From shore the schools appeared reddish brown in color.
