Mōkoholā

/ Mō-koholā / WahiLocation, Place Names of Hawaiʻi (1974),

Large rock islet (0.36 acres, 50 feet elevation), off Pelekunu, Molokaʻi. This island and Mōkōlea were believed formed by rocks hurled at Kana's canoe while he attempted to rescue his mother, Hina, from Hāʻupu hill (Summers 210). For another version, see Hāʻupu. Literally, cut (mō- is short for moku) whale.
