Street, land division, valley, and stream in upper Nuʻuanu Valley, Honolulu, Oʻahu. The first Hawaiian heiau, built by the gods, was in the area. Kāne and Kanaloa lived here (HM 332) and here the first man, Wākea, was born. In For. 6:408–413 and in Fornander, 1969:280, is the story of Kualiʻi, who crossed the mountains by the Nuʻuanu and Kalihi passes, assembled his men at Keanaokamanō ridge that overlooks Waolani, then descended to Kawaluna heiau to offer sacrifices, and finally won a victory at Waolani.
