Small, scarlet or yellow-green honeycreeper (Loxops coc- cinea coccinea). Indigenous to Hawaiʻi. There are two subspe- cies, the Maui ʻākepa (L. coccinea ochracea) and the Oʻahu ʻākepa (L. coccinea rufa). Also called ʻakepeuʻie.
