To shake, stir up, as dust; to knock a club from a foe's hands; to toss up, as spray; to brandish, wave; to clear of weeds; to drive off, especially evil spirits (tapa or ti leaves were torn into strips, blessed, and passed over a patient in order to exorcise spirits).
