vt., To push over, knock down, overthrow, shove, push to one side; to brush off, as a horse switches flies with its tail; to dash to pieces (Isa. 13.18); to hurl. See ex., kūpahu. (Probably kū l + -laʻi.) Kulaʻi pau, to push completely over, as would a strong wind (see ex., kikiʻi #1). Kulaʻi ʻohā, to break off main parent taro and leave room for young shoots to grow. hoʻo.kulaʻi Caus/sim.
