A species of marine shellfish, found only on rocks near the sea coast.

Shellfish (Melampus castaneus). Known throughout the tropical Pacific. Found with Laemondonta and Pedipes in the supraspray zone under rocks and rubble. See ʻaoa. (EAK 491.)
