1. n. Hawkfish (Paracirrhites forsteri, Cirrhitops fasciatus, Amblycirrhites bimacula), 18 cm or less in length and light-pink in color, Lit., coral clinging. Also Cirrhites pinnulatus and Oxycirrhites typus.
2. A native variety of sugar cane named for the fish; stems yellow-green, with pale brown-red stripes when young, changing to bronze-yellow with darker brown-red stripes.
3. A stiff kind of pākalakala, a seaweed (Galaxaura lapidescens).
