vt. To pour out, dip, as water; to wean, as a child (-hi is a transitivizer and a reflex of PPN -fi; cf. Tongan ʻutu, to pour, and Gram. 6.6.4). ʻO ka mea ukuhi ka i ʻike i ka lepo o ka wai, ʻo ka mea inu ʻaʻole ʻoia i ʻike, he who dips is the one who knows how dirty the water is, but he who drinks does not.
